Ventura Investment Management Limited ("Ventura") is a special purpose funds management company established to offer professionally managed investments for investors. Ventura is the responsible entity for seven Ventura series Funds, as well as for the All Star series of Funds. It has in total in excess of $850 million Funds under Management. Professional Investment Holdings Limited is a minority shareholder in Ventura.
The All Star Funds provide retail investors with exclusive access to a select group of investment managers. Each All Star Fund has a single specialist manager appointed to manage its assets.
These managers would not otherwise be available to Australian retail investors on that basis, as they are typically available only to institutional and other similar investors.
Specialist investment managers are appointed by the responsible entity to manage each Fund. The manager selection process incorporates the following four important criteria:
- Active management of investments
- An investment process which seeks to consistently outperform the relevant index or perform on an absolute basis, regardless of market cycle or conditions
- A proven investment process and performance track record with a strong focus on risk management
- A highly experienced and stable team of investment managers.
Preference is also generally given to managers whose interest is aligned to those of the investors, either through the charging of performance fees, or through investment or ownership in the investment manager’s business.
The All Star Funds are managed investment schemes, enabling each investor to pool their money with the money of other investors. This gives individual investors the diversification and buying power that would generally otherwise only be available to large investors.
Each Fund is a separate unit trust. Each Fund has its own investment objective, with a specialist investment manager appointed by Ventura Investment Management Ltd to manage each Fund as set out in the table below.
The responsible entity allocates money to each investment manager and they decide the specific investments they will make in accordance with the performance objectives and risk management guidelines agreed between the responsible entity and the investment manager. We review all investment managers at least twice a year to ensure they are performing to our investment expectations and managing the underlying investments of each Fund according to the agreed process.
